WHAT IS L.A.EYEWORKS? WHAT MAKES L.A.EYEWORKS GLASSES UNIQUE?
l.a.Eyeworks frames are designed in Los Angeles by the co-founders and co-owners of the company, Barbara McReynolds and Gai Gherardi. Collections are produced in limited edition quantities, which allows us to make more creative shapes with imaginative colors and innovative surface treatments. Because McReynolds and Gherardi were both seasoned opticians before they began designing eyewear, l.a.Eyeworks frames demonstrate great understanding of facial proportions and the principles of making a comfortably fitting frame that can accommodate a wide range of prescriptions.
l.a.Eyeworks glasses are made of fine acetate and metal materials. The frames are manufactured in artisanal factories in Italy and Japan that combine the use of advanced technology (e.g., computer-aided sculpting ) with the warmth and finesse of hand-finishing. It's worth noting that even the color of temple tips are hand-chosen to complement the custom colors of our metal frames.
New collections are introduced in the fall and spring of every year, with occasional smaller mid-season introductions. To be notified of new frame offerings, please sign up to receive our newsletter here.
HOW MUCH DO L.A.EYEWORKS GLASSES COST?
Typically, prices for l.a.Eyeworks frames begin at $350 (€265).
WHERE CAN I BUY L.A.EYEWORKS GLASSES?
The l.a.Eyeworks retail store in Los Angeles can be found at 7407 Melrose Avenue, which is our original shop (affectionately known as the "Mothership").
l.a.Eyeworks frames can also be found at fine retailers and independent opticians worldwide. Check our Where to Buy page for assistance, or, if you are unable to find a location close to you, please e-mail our Customer Service team at eyemail@laeyeworks.com for assistance. Please note that few retailers (l.a.Eyeworks stores in Los Angeles being the exception) will carry the entire collection or range of colors represented on our website. Many retailers will be happy to order an l.a.Eyeworks frame for your approval before you commit to purchase (an advance call to your destination is always advised!).
DO YOU SELL YOUR FRAMES ONLINE?
We always encourage you to benefit from the lens knowledge, frame savvy, and styling expertise of a great optician, and to support independent businesses in your community. If you are unable to locate an l.a.Eyeworks frame locally, purchases can be made directly through our website, or through our retail stores via e-mail or phone.

I'M LOOKING FOR A SPECIFIC FRAME STYLE. HOW CAN I FIND IT?
Our style search works in a number of ways. While browsing through our collections page, click the search icon and type in a style name, if you know it. You can also try using our color, shape, size or material filters to display different groups of styles to view when browsing on a desktop or laptop computer. Our on-line catalog contains models that are currently available to our retailers. If the frame you are looking for is not on our website, it may be an older style that is out of production and/or no longer available. Finally, if you have good descriptive information or a photograph(s) of the frame, we invite you to email us here and we will do our best to assist you.
DOES L.A.EYEWORKS MAKE SUNGLASSES?
All l.a.Eyeworks frames are designed with flexibility in mind to accommodate both sun and corrective lenses. In our marketing campaigns and press images, you'll often see l.a.Eyeworks frames presented as sunglasses. Your local independent optician can advise you about the variety of lens treatments available for your frames.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY L.A.EYEWORKS GLASSES?
To clean your frame, whether it is metal or plastic, a gentle rinse in water with a mild soap is fine for normal care. Dry your frames with a soft, non-abrasive cloth (for example, the microfiber cleaning cloth included with the purchase of your l.a.Eyeworks frame). We do not recommend cleaning your frames with solvent-based detergents such as window cleaning solutions. Protect your frames from extreme temperatures, such as leaving them in a car in summertime (even the glove box can get hot!), and store them in a protective case when not in use. To keep your frames in optimal adjustment, take them off with both hands. And if you have a tough cleaning job, or if your frame is sitting unevenly on your face, make a visit to your optician for advice and a tune-up.
WHAT IS THE WARRANTY ON L.A.EYEWORKS GLASSES?
All l.a.Eyeworks frames have a one year warranty from the date of purchase for any manufacturer defect. Warranty claims can only be made at the original place of purchase with a copy of the original receipt. The warranty does not cover lenses placed into l.a.Eyeworks frames. Mishandling or deliberate modification of a frame will void the warranty.
CAN L.A.EYEWORKS GLASSES BE ADJUSTED? DO YOU HAVE A REPAIR SERVICE FOR YOUR FRAMES?
If your l.a.Eyeworks frame needs minor adjusting or a replacement part, we encourage you to bring them to your local l.a.Eyeworks retailer for assistance. As we are the manufacturer of our products, we endeavor to stock replacement parts to service our frames for the one year warranty period (although not guaranteed, parts are often available well beyond this time). Replacement parts can be ordered through your l.a.Eyeworks retailer.
IS THERE ANY CHANCE YOU HAVE A REPLACEMENT PART FOR MY BELOVED L.A.EYEWORKS FRAMES I PURCHASED SEVERAL YEARS AGO?
It's possible! Because l.a.Eyeworks frames are made in limited edition quantities, we cannot make any guarantees where older frame styles are concerned. However, we are happy to receive your inquiries and would be glad to advise you of what is or isn't available. We recommend you contact our retail stores directly, preferably via e-mail with a picture of the frame (as much detail as possible is welcomed, especially if there are interior markings left inside the temple arms), or, if you've lost a frame, a picture or two of you wearing them.
MY DOG IS OBSESSED WITH CHEWING MY GLASSES! CAN YOU EXPLAIN?
Your four-legged friend is attracted to your glasses because they are in intimate contact with your skin. Your eyeglasses carry traces of the oils and fragrances that your animal knows fondly as "you." Technically, then, that chewing is a love bite! So don't be too hard on your canine companion (and store your glasses in their protective case when they're not on your head).
I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. HOW DO I FIND LOCAL EVENT INFORMATION FOR YOUR STORES (SPECIAL PROGRAMS, SNEAK PREVIEWS, SALES, TRUNK SHOWS, ETC.)?
WHAT IS A "FROG TOE"?
"Frog Toe" refers to the circular, disc-like pads at the ends of the temple arms on l.a.Eyeworks frames. Not only do they make a frame fit comfortably and securely behind your ears, frog toes are a distinctive part of our design signature. The shape is directly inspired by the digits of Australian green tree frogs who have been beloved pets of l.a.Eyeworks designer Gai Gherardi over the years, including Tuna Jo, Meaty John, and The Frog Formerly Known as Prince.
